Dream, Collaborate, Transform!
The Dream Sphere, Singapore’s Pavilion at the Expo 2025 in Osaka, Japan, is a dense immersive experience highlighting Singapore’s forward-looking ambitions — a space where visitors can not only discover how Singapore transforms visionary ideas into tangible outcomes but also invites them to express and contribute their dreams: to inspire us to dream for a better future.
The Dream Sphere represents Singapore’s dedication to innovation, resilience, sustainability and inclusiveness—fundamental values aligning with Expo 2025’s overarching theme, "Designing Future Society for Our Lives."
At the core of the pavilion stands the architectural sphere that spans over two floors and hosts the highlight experience – the Dream Repository. Dreams are the seeds of change, holding the potential to inspire action and shape a better future. The Dream Repository was conceived as a space where this transformative power of dreams comes to life.
New approach to interaction: the combination of projection mapping and hand tracking
Entering the sphere, the visitors become contributors. They are invited to share their dream at one of the eight Dream Creator stations. Each station is a custom-built interactive combining projection mapping, hand tracking, and a touch-sensitive surface, allowing the visitors to write or draw their dream with their fingers. An intuitive interface guides them through this process. At the end, in a magical transformation, the written or drawn dream turns into a Dream Sphere—an object that appears throughout the pavilion and always encapsulates dreams—in the form of audible and visual narrations. Using hand tracking, visitors can then pick up the projected Dream Sphere, activate it and send it up into the dome above. As a colored light impulse, their dream then spirals up through the central light installation.
On the upper floor of the Dream Repository, all the individual dreams contributed by the visitors culminate to form the grand, inspiring finale—a huge 360-degree dome projection with a circumference of 56 meters and a height of 9 meters. Here, the dreams start to interact with the projection. They influence and enhance the world around us, illustrating their potential as catalysts for change and innovation. Together, they demonstrate how collective dreaming can drive us toward a better future.
This experience inspires visitors to dream boldly and collectively. It is a call to action—to dream together and to embrace our collective ability to create positive change in the world.
This project was a joint collaboration with a hugely dedicated team. On behalf of Milla & Partner, congaz visual media company GmbH was responsible for the media production of the dome projection and MZ motion design GmbH for the media production of the Dream Creation interaction. Thanks to them and also to everybody at Kingsmen Creatives Ltd, Singapore Tourism Board, DP Architects, Beatrice Chia-Richmond, Presplay Pte Ltd for making this dream come true!
